If you’ve never seen your credit report before or it’s been a long time, then the first thing you need to do is get a copy of all three of your credit reports. There will be one of Equifax, Experian and Trans Union. They will be very similar, but may vary only a little. You need to know what’s on all three of them.
Now, to get a clean credit report, you need to go through all three reports and see what really belongs to you, what is old, what is reported incorrectly, and what may not even be your fault. Sometimes things are reported incorrectly and this can really hurt your credit.
Next, write a letter to all three credit reference agencies and deny anything that isn’t reported correctly or doesn’t belong to you. The creditors in your report have 30 days to accurately report the account, or it will be permanently removed from your report.
Now it’s pretty easy to increase your credit score by 100 points.
First, look at how many times your balance has been withdrawn in the last 90 days. Take the number of times and multiply it by 3. That’s how many credits you get when all those requests come from your credit report.
Next, if you have overdue accounts, then pay them off or at least get them. After you do this, write a letter to the creditor and ask them to update the account so that you get a better credit score.
The last thing you can do if you don’t have much on the plus side is to get a credit card or small loan. Pay the monthly payments on time and never miss or be late. This will help increase your score and combat some of the negative elements in your clean credit report.
