An ideal time sheet

An ideal timesheet is the one that can hide all the complex functionalities and provide employees with a chic graphical user interface (GUI) to enter their punching details. The GUI should be such that even a layman with limited knowledge should be able to decipher what needs to be entered, how and where.

The ideal timesheet should provide an organization with the ability to customize it to its needs and requirements. At the same time, however, you perform all the complex calculations yourself and ask employees to fill in only mandatory fields. Not only should it be able to incorporate all relevant county, state, and central laws from time to time, but it should also provide the employee with updated times for stamping in and out after daylight saving time is taken into account.

Manually, it is not possible for the approver to check whether each employee has sent their timesheet for approval or not. It takes a lot of time, even on the part of the approver, to check the same. Not only that, sending emails for all approved and rejected timesheets is again a nightmare.

Employees in an organization work for different departments depending on their skills. Organizations pay each individual employee different amounts for the work they do as an hourly salary. But tracking which employee has worked for a particular department and up to what point in time is a Herculean task. An ideal timesheet eases all this complexity and simply delivers the correct output in a report format depending on the input.

Due to the complexity in calculating shift times, break and lunch times, etc., the ideal timesheet provides all the business logic to calculate overtime, shift difference, etc. for the employee at the touch of a button. All these calculations take place behind the screens without the knowledge of the employee. However, the employee can submit a calculated output to their approvers without thinking about the logic used to calculate their punching data.

Today, data has taken on an important role either for computation or for analysis purposes. For a web-based timesheet application, the data should be encrypted as the data is transferred from the desktop to the data servers, using the most sophisticated and complex encryption strategies. By and large, timesheets are a must for any small and large organization to track their employees’ punching data. But the timesheet software, available in the form of standard software packages/etc/, includes all the features that a typical organization needs, is a critical question.
